Allegheny, Delaware and Philadelphia counties each have an appointed medical examiner.

Northampton and Luzerne counties each have an appointed coroner.


Pennsylvania leads the nation in accreditation with 6 accredited county death investigation offices. One office holds a dual-accreditation.
