One office holds a dual-accreditation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nationally,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/theiacme.com\/\">IACME<\/a>\u00a0reports 44 accredited offices nationwide<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pacoroners.org\/cms\/members\/?filter_iacme-office-accred_caa6e=IACME-Accredited%20Office#598a7305-caca-4a4c-844c-008859147ed4\">1<\/a><\/sup>;\u00a0<strong>8<\/strong>\u00a0are Pennsylvania coroner\u2019s offices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Counties and Accreditations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Adams County<\/strong><br>IACME Accredited since 2013<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Allegheny County<\/strong><br>NAME Accredited since 2022<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bucks County<\/strong><br>IACME Accredited since 2024<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cambria County<\/strong><br>IACME Accredited since 2012<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lehigh County<\/strong><br>IACME Accredited since 2006<br>NAME Accredited since 2024<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lancaster County<\/strong><br>IACME Accredited since 2011<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Montgomery County<\/strong><br>IACME Accredited since 2011<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Washington County<\/strong><br>IACME Accredited since 2017<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Westmoreland County<\/strong><br>IACME Accredited since 2025<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Accrediting Agencies<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two major accrediting bodies for coroner and medical examiner offices: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>National Association of Medical Examiners<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Both promote rigorous standards in areas such as ethics, professionalism, death investigation, and overall operation. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The counties that have achieved these accreditations have proven that their policies and operations meet or exceed international standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Individual Board Certification<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, death investigators of any level (coroners, medical examiners, and all those practicing beneath them) can elect to be board certified, meaning they demonstrate mastery of death investigation concepts and standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can sort <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pacoroners.org\/cms\/members\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"15\">our directory<\/a> by certification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Want to learn more?
