How Do I Look Up A County Coroner?

Accessing The Directory

Looking up a county coroner couldn’t be easier. In fact, although the website has changed quite a bit, the Coroner and Medical Examiner directory really hasn’t, aside from access to entire profiles and better photo management tools.

To find a particular county coroner, just click the Coroners and Medical Examiners link at the top of any page on the website.

Using Advanced Tools to Search The Directory

What is new is the ability to sort, search and filter the directory.

To sort the directory is just like it sounds: socks with socks, jeans with jeans, delicates with delicates. You can sort the list alphabetically by county, numerically by region number or county class, or by the user’s association position. (Those with leadership positions would be listed first, those with the “Member” role below.)

To search refers to the ability to find a particular piece of data, like a coroner or a county, by name. This is useful if you know exactly to whom you need to reach out.

To filter refers to narrowing a list down by a certain criterion, such as county class or association region. This is useful if, say, you want to find all of the coroners in the same region as you.

You can filter results by clicking the “More Filters” section.

Filters can be stacked; that is to say, you can filter a filter. Best results are achieved when you take the filter by the most general criterion first, and then apply other filters to that.

For example, you might want to tell the website, “show me all coroners in class 3 counties in region 4 accredited by the IACME”

To do this you would select from the filters, “Region: 4”, “Class: 3”, “Accredited: by the IACME.”

The more filters you apply, the narrower your results get.

Similarly, maybe you’d like to just see the coroners in Region 7: You would select “Region 7” from the Region drop down.

Within those results, you might want to see just the class 3 counties: without clicking “clear filters,” you would select “Class 3” from the Class dropdown.

If you wish, you could even filter the list further by just members on the executive board.

An example of stacking filters, here we have asked for all coroners in (first) region 7, (second) who are in class 3 counties. You can filter on filters, but the more specific you get the fewer results you get.

Remember to click “Clear Filters” to return to the master list!
