Changing Your Password

Profile vs. Account: What’s In A Name?

Simply put, your account refers to your credentials: the lock and key that is your access to the website.

Your profile is the public-facing information you choose to share.

Why make the distinction? Simple! You need to know where to go to make changes or updates.

Let’s say you need to update your password. You’re making a change to your account (your “lock and key,”) so you’d need to go to the Account section.

Changing Your Password (or email)

To update your password, hover over the Members Only top menu section, then click My Account. Note that this is different from “See My Profile.”

On the page that displays, you can update your password, and depending on your user access level, your username and email address* as well.

Remember to click “Save” after making changes.

*Email address to be updated is your account email address; IE the email address you can log-in with and with which the site communicates with you. This does not change public email addresses for coroners/medical examiners.

Subscriptions

You can also make changes to your Subscription from the account page. Some pages contain content for which you might like to be alerted to changes. For these pages, you can click “Alert me when this page is update,” which subscribes you to page alerts.

If you get tired of these alerts, no longer care about the content, or are inundated with messages about changed content, you can manage these subscriptions from the Account page.

You will find this section just below the password editor.
